AGE GROUP (Competitive):
PREREQUISITES: Must have completed or intend to complete the USA Swimming IMR program (IM-Ready; 50's of stroke, 100 IM, 100 Free, 200 Free) or have a goal to complete the IMX program and achieve a score for your Age Group. All Mercury Coaches reserve the right to decide group training rosters and may alter the personnel of each training group throughout the course of a season.
GROUP DESCRIPTION: These groups serve as a transition from our introductory/developmental/pre-competitive groups to our more experienced competitive swim levels. Our Age Group athletes are swimmers who are generally 10-13 years of age and have demonstrated that they have a desire to continue their competitive progression. They are proficient in all four strokes, starts and turns.
1.) Swim a 400 IM legally.
2.) Be able to swim a 200 of each stroke.
3.) Be able to race in every distance and every stroke that are germane to their age groups.
4.) Be able to descend a set of 5 x 200, 5 x 400 and 3 x 800 or 3 x 1000.
5.) Be able to best average a set of 10 x 100 on 2:00 (Best average sets are sets where the first repeat is the slowest, the last repeat is the fastest, and every repeat in between is holding within a range of +.05 of their best time.)
6.) Be able to kick 20 x 25 on :45/10 x 50 on 1:25.
7.) Push off and streamline past the flags using both dolphin kicks (minimum 4) and flutter kicks (minimum 6) before surfacing to swim.
8.) Improve dive and backstroke underwater work.
9.) Be able to listen to coaches give instructions between repeats of a set.
10.) Be able to start a goal plan.
11.) Begin to understand how to manage effort and intensity in practice and at a meet.
12.) Be able to control attitude and be able to focus throughout practice and at a swim meet.

Workout Days/Times: Monday & Wednesday @ Geneseo 6:45-8pm until October 29, 2012 then time reverts to 6 -7:15pm. Tuesday & Thursday@ Livonia 6-7:15pm. Friday @ Dansville 6-7:15pm
