MERCURY 5,000 BUTTERFLY CLUB
This exclusive club recognizes those athletes tough enough to endure an entire 5,000 yards of any practice swimming butterfly stroke and butterfly stroke only. This is not a 5,000 straight fly, however, in order to gain entry into this exclusive club a swimmer must complete every set swimming butterfly. If the set is a kick set, the swimmer must kick fly. If the set is drill, the athlete may swim any butterfly drill except drills where "one arm fly" is incorporated. There is no option of fly/crawl; everything must be straight butterfly stroke. Anyone at Mercury may attempt to join this prestigious club, however, once an athlete decides to go after it, he/she must make a total commitment in the workout to finish the entire 5,000 yards. Upon successful completion of the required distance of 5,000 yards, the swimmer will have their names proudly listed on the list below and earn a Mercury T-Shirt that reads: "Mercury Swimming, The team you've never heard of, but the one you wished you trained with." In addition, the sleeve of the shirt will read: "5,000 Fly Club." Let it be known that members' entry to 5,000 yard fly club must be registered, attached Mercury swimmers, unattached athletes cannot qualify.
